Is Buddha an Avatar of Bhagwan Vishnu?

ree

Is Gatam Buddha the avatar of Vishnu? Lot of people people have a misconception & confused about Gautam buddha with Vishnu Avatar buddha. They are separate. Gautam buddha was a normal human like us whose instincts pushed him to Siddhi. Though a lot of different theories by him. Like he said "everything is nothing", "there is no atman". These were a few concepts challenged by Adi Shankaracharya. Hindu philosophy is "Everthing is full".

When fullness is taken away from fullness, fullness remains. -upanishads.

Many historians & dharmic gurus (both sides) tried to portray him as hindu avatar. No doubt he was a Sanatani. But not an avatar. Why? This was merely a confusion between words Buddha. Some scholars point out two buddhas have lived in ancient India.

Why was there a confusion? Both had same Gotra. Same purpose. Buddha's birth place was Bodhgaya. Some scholars point that his mother's name was Anajana. On the other side, Gautam Buddha was born in today's Nepal, in laws too in Nepal, kingdom as well in nepal.

Siddharth was prince who left home to explore & end the suffering of people.

Make no mistake. He was not against society laws or kshatriyas as some historians point out. He was merely looking for an end of hunger, death, sadness. After awakening he found that these are illusions. Buddha in sanskrit means "awakened one". Gautam Buddha belonged to Ikshvaku dynasty. The same lineage of lord Ram. Siddhartha belonged to Shakya clan. The Gotra is Gautam which is shared by Kshatriyas & Brahmins. Roughly 55 generations before him Rama took birth.

In dashavatar stotram, the ninth verse may create a bit of a confusion. Looking just at this we can say that Siddhartha is Vishnu's avatar. Right? But that's not entire thing.

According to Bhavishya Puran Buddha will take birth in a Brahmin family. Stated by Govardhan Math. And Gautama Buddha was born in Ram's lineage and shakya kul. Dosent match...

According to lankavatara sutra, Ravan in the beginning of the book tries to invoke energy of Buddha (Vishnu's incarnation. See image.

If shri Ram lived 55 generations before him, then ravan too. And to invoke someone's energy, the energy has to be awakened.

According to an article (bookfacts), lankavatara was translated wrongly as Gautama Buddha.

It does not puzzle things together. The years gap is huge. This is pointing towards Aadi Buddha and ravana. Aadi buddha lived in treta yuga. Gautam Buddha did not randomly went to a place to meditate. He chose bodhgaya as this place is spiritual potency. But the point is not why he went there, the point is, he was not born in Bodhgaya and wasnt a Brahmin. Moreover, buddha did not mention of an avatar of vishnu in life. Instead he refused any god even exist. Which was fixed after debates with adi Shankara.

Govardhan math puri also specified that "there is a statue of first buddha in Gaya. Gaya is in keekat kshetra" he also pointed out agni Purana has details of buddha meditation. How is it possible to name buddha in Puranas if Gautam Buddha existed some 3k years ago?

As pointed before too Brahmin gotra Gautama was also one confusion to portray buddha as Vishnu's lineage by both sides. Hindus have a deep respect for Gautam Buddha & see him as a bhagwan having 6 qualities. But would you like somwone to prove shri Ram was a brahmin? Nope. It wont be acceptable. Similarly, if all these facts are pointing to one direction of a different buddha, we should not forcefully oppose it unless have a counter evidence. Let's create harmony between the two communities. And not distort Buddha's history.

Important message: this thread is not intended to offend or defame a community. It's clearly specified that confusions are there. Please refrain using harsh words for either in comments. We respect Buddhists & they as well. Thanks for your support.
