Introduction
There has been a lot of theories floating around today about Yuga. Some of those theories suggest that Kaliyuga will end and Dwapar yuga will start in 2025 or 2030 or so on. The first person to write about this was Yukteswara. He rejected Vedic, Vedantic and many other scriptures time given as 4.32 billion years of time span and made up something his own. I personally do not understand why these theories had to be made to confuse people. Today let's explore and find out what is the reality of this mysterious "YUGA".
What are Yugas?
We all know that yugas are four. The four yugas combined are called Chaturyuga. These chaturyugas are Satya Yuga, Treta Yuga, Dwapar Yuga and Kali Yuga. Is it that Satya yuga always had Satya? Maybe not. Impurities of Maya exist regardless of yugas. But in this period of time humans move towards the transcendental reality of the universe. Humans evolve spiritually.
Sanatan Dharma is very old and is the only remaining tradition that carried methods of evolution. The name "Dwapar Yuga" suggests that it is referring to something that is dual. That is, Satya and Asatya along with confusion of which direction to lead the life . But in this period, a person moves towards Satya. Treta yuga comes before Dwapar which introduces asatya with Satya. In treta Yuga, a man is moved towards satya as he has clarity and knowledge of good and bad. In this period humans are not able to understand whether the bad thing is actually good for them or bad.
The name "Dwapar Yuga" suggests that it is referring to something that is dual. That is, Satya and Asatya along with confusion of which direction to lead the life . But in this period, a person may move towards Satya. It is harming them but seems like a natural part of life. Kaliyug, on the other hand, moves a person towards asatya because of confusion. Although it has been hard to explain Kali Yuuga, it can be seen that the majority moves towards asatya in this world.
Is it possible to be free from the confusions and illusions we face today? Definitely. There are many practices reserved on Sanatan Dharma that instructs us what is Satya. The Rishis of the previous yuga had foreseen the condition of humans after Kali-yuga and wondered how in the world are we going to survive? They wrote down many scriptures to help the next generations. It's a different story many "modern people" choose adharma over dharma.
After the arrival of energy called "Kalki" which would be responsible for the ending of this Yuga.
Many people say that there is a cycle of four yugas and keeps going. It is true but not the way it is widely promoted. After the end of kali yuga, Satya yuga will start. Before the inception of Satya yuga, shiva will end the universe and Bramha will start a new one. Now, let's analyse the Kalpa and its time span
Universal time (Kalpa)
Material universe has limited time. "Nothing is permanent" is the phrase we often use. The discovery of time had been done long before by ancient Bharatiyas & recorded the as well. "Kalpa" means time but not ordinary earthly time. It means the time which is relatively long in terms of Brahman (universe).
"1 Kalpa day is 4.32 billion human years"
4.32 billion years is 1 day of Bramha.
Why? It is because of time changes in each planet according to its oscillation. Bramha is situated far from earth (bhuloka) and hence the time span increase considerably for bhuloka.
1 year of Bramha has 360 days and equal nights
1 Kalpa or a day of Brahma is divided into 14 Manvantars.
1 day of Brahma is 1000 Mahayuga (Mahayuga is one cycle of chatuyuga)
1 Manvantar is divided into 71 Mahayuga, each has 4,320,000 years. A total of 306,720,000 years.
1000 Mahayuga has 72 yugas cycle (Satya yuga, Treta yuga, Dwapar and Kali-yuga)
1 StyaYug = 4,800 Bramha years and 1,728,000 earthly years (4,800 x 360= 1,728,000)
1 TretaYug = 3,600 Bramha years and 1,296,000 earthly years (3,600 x 360= 1,296,000)
1 DwaparYug = 2,400 Bramha years and 1,224,000 earthly years (2,400 x 360= 1,224,000)
1 KaliYug = 1,200 Bramha years and 432,000 earthly years (1,200 x 360= 432,000)
So what time are we at?
If one Kalpa is 4.32 billion then 2 Kalpa would be 8.64 billion years
1 year of Brahma is 4.32 billion x 100 x 360 = 3.1104 Trillion Years
50 years of Bramha: 3.1104 Trillion years x 50 = 155,520,000,000,000
Time elapsed in this Kalpa:
6 Manvantars = 6 x 71 x 4,320,000 = 1840320000 (1)
6 Sandhi Kal = 6 x 1,278,000 = 7668000 (2)
(1) + (2) = 1,847,988,000
27 mahayuga of the current Manvantar: 27 x 4,320,000 = 116,640,000
10800 deva years = 10800 x 360 = 3,888,000
3102 + 2020 = 5122 years elapsed in current Kaliyuga
i.e, 155,520,000,000,000 + 1,847,988,000 + 116,640,000 + 3,888,000 + 5122 = 155,521,968,521,122 years
Total age of Brahma is 100 (Brahma Years) = 311,040,000,000,000 Human years
426,878 years are left for Kaliyug to end as per the year 2020. Today's Manvantar is 7th called "Vaivasvat Manvantar".
What happens after 426,878 years?

Gita 8.17: One day of Brahma (Kalpa) lasts a thousand cycles of the four ages (mahā yuga) and his night also extends for the same span of time. The wise who know this understand the reality about day and night.

Gita 9.7-8: At the end of one Kalpa, all living beings merge into My primordial material energy. At the beginning of the next creation, O son of Kunti, I manifest them again. Presiding over My material energy, I generate these myriad forms again and again, in accordance with the force of their natures.
The universe is time and again created, destroyed & then re-created. Interestingly, the five elements are also responsible for the annihilation of the universe. At the end of the Kaliyug because of the adharma (imbalance of human state and material universe). The entire universe will merge in Bramha. Devas that exist today will not exist once the universe ends. In the next chaturyuga (after Kaliyuga Satya yuga will arrive because of the destruction) devas will be created again.
