All schools of meditation teach something different. All these practices are based on specific goals of the Guru. In earlier times, when Gurukul used to exist, students sed to be taught about different Yog that would awake the inner world of infinite. We don't live in real-world. But something that is tangible is real, isn't it? This is how mind expression works. It has been hard for Rishis to say if it is real or unreal. It's not that they don't know the answer, it's just hard to explain something that can only be experienced. That is the reason why Rishis and sages wrote numerous scriptures to write down the essence & Vigyaan of this universe that lies within us.
We practice Dhyana in real-world to experience the extraordinary realms of this universe. Physical benefits to the body are seen in the initial years and people believe that this is something that is all. It's not all. The fullness at the moment is the most precious state of the human mind. But for strange reasons that fullness remains temporary. Lasting fullness is one of the initial milestones. Everything slows down. one by one all parts of the body destress. We begin to live in the precious present of wholeness.
The only issue is many people around the world do not try to do it as in the first few sessions they did not get results. Our society and full-time jobs teach us to work perpetually. Never rest and take more and more stress. Eventually, the mind starts to get impulsive and stressed out. In the night, we start to get dreams as a flashback of the entire day and past few days.
Atman connection:
Many of us have been doing dhyana. I will be very honest, imbalance happens. It does not mean we are doing something wrong. We are rebuilding the consciousness again and again after we come back to the normal state of mind. This coming back to the normal state is what we "believe" or think as an imbalance. Not that it's bad but it is not long-lasting. Why?
The answer to this question I found a couple of days back when the dhyana state was disturbed by outer activities. This outer world is what should not bother us. When the outer world does not affect us much then the consciousness remains instant.
You are nothing but a thread of energy. You carry the energy in a bundle. Once a different kind of energy, whether positive or negative flows, affects bundle as a whole. Sanatan Cosmos
We are the masters of our life. And each moment we can choose an option to make our lives beautiful. Distraction makes us lose traction in life. To experience the soul to soul connection we need to stop distracting our brains towards unnecessary matters of our lives. Whatever the past has been for an individual, it has gone. There is no footprint left. Yes, there is a memory footprint left. But it depends if you hold on to those memories then there is a footprint existing, if released from all senses then the footprint diminishes.
Ones we let go & forgive all past attachment to negativity and people, it lightens our heart, allowing us to open more and more to the inside. If we connect with the inner core of humans (Atman), the intuition level of humans increase.

Stillness in Ruins:
When we are lost in our illusions and the world starts collapsing, there are two options. The first: let it ruin by panicking. Second: remain calm & hold the ground. A tree standing upright during storms gets uprooted first. the tree which remains clam and bends a bit along the wind stays still. That stillness is to be sought in ruins. The perfection in yoga is achieved with a burning desire and determination. The greatest technique one should follow is to renunciate from the worldly desires while we live in the material world, This is not hard.
In Bhagwat Geeta Chapter 18, Krishna tells Arjuna
काम्यानां कर्मणां न्यासं सन्न्यासं कवयो विदु: |
सर्वकर्मफलत्यागं प्राहुस्त्यागं विचक्षणा:||
"Giving up of actions motivated by desire is great men learnt men call it "renounced" order of life. And giving up the results of all actions is what they call renunciation"
The attachment with material gives rise to errors to the human mind. There are many ways a person advances in his life. There are three ways by which a person advances in spirituality.
Confer
Charity
Tapasya
These three are for the advancement of the human mind. Tapasya does not mean to hurt yourself. It means to burn away all the impurities of the mind. The strict control of the senses will help in the advancement of spiritual practice. Always speaking the truth which is well presented, always supporting the right, always being a part of good actions keep a person intact even in the hash storms of life. When the focus is on knowing the atman and giving up the impurities of life is strong, people begin experiencing stillness in ruins. Yes, we would require Yoga to achieve it. But this is an easy take for those who release the worldly pleasure. In today's world, it is hard to renounce all activities but the one who renounces from the fruits of his Karma renounces the material.
Those people often face difficulties even when there is no difficulty who carry false ego and entangled intelligence. These are the factors of all imaginary problems of life. Determined Yoga practitioner does not face as much difficulty in life as a normal person. Because he had attained stillness in storms.
